Is a movement art form practice , which has been inspired by yoga, swimming, tai chi and qigong. This practice has been in my life in some way, shape or form for 30 years. I began at 15 years old, after a knee injury, and was able to rehabilitate. After college and many years of dance, I trained to be able to teach and share with others. Practicing throughout both my pregnancies, and am still very much in love with it till this day. Its undulating, rhythmic and fluid nature reflects the pulse of life. Although the whole organism is always involved, no matter which movement series is being practiced ( hamstrings, shoulders, abdominals, spine, side body etc ) , GYROTONIC is a spinal based system. Arching, curling, waving, twisting, spiraling…and some of those simultaneously. Movement in full range of our joints , the way they were designed to move.Releasing various layers of our fascia through this movement can bring ease to our bound bodies and nervous systems.
